Green Architect - School Engagement Session

Post by TGA Admin » 13 Sep 2012, 14:53

The Green Architect recently completed a student engagement session at Whitley Bay High School as part of the schools legacy events to celebrate their 50 year anniversary.
The focus of the project was to design a flexible space that can be used for a variety of functions; drama, music, teaching, meeting or performance. Our brief introduced ideas of creating a lasting legacy, not a one hit wonder. How the project can be sustainably built, how it can leave something for future students and teachers to use.
After one days teaching with pupils from a mixture of years we are really impressed by the work produced.

After the success of the engagement session we have further developed the project and completed a presentation to the school as part of their 50 year anniversary. The intention is to source local labour, use timber from a local supplier and use a sponsored brick sale (selling bricks with names - to former students and businesses) to produce the building.

The presentation evening was a great success!
